Swinging Fore Achievement
Ballantrae Golf Club 1300 Ballantrae Club Drive Pelham, AL, United StatesThe 10th Annual Swinging Fore Achievement Golf Tournament will be held on May 16th at Ballantrae Golf Club. Lunch will be provided beginning at 11:30am with the Shotgun Start at 1:00 pm. The entry fee for individual players is $150 or play as a team for $600. There will be prizes for the top 3 teams of the tournament. The entry fee includes green fee & golf cart, pre-round practice balls, lunch, Ballantrae Course Yardage Book and a goodie bag. Corporate sponsorships are available! This event benefits The Arc of Shelby County, which serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Shelby and Chilton Counties.

2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration
The City of Montevallo’s Parks & Recreation Board will host their 2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration from 10 AM – 1 PM at George Dailey Park on Wednesday, June 19. This free-admission event will feature a program, refreshments, children’s activities, and community organizations. Juneteenth became a federal holiday in June 2021. It is a national celebration of freedom: the anniversary of June 19, 1865, the day enslaved people in Texas learned they had been set free for two years. The event will kick off at 10:00 AM. Retired educators Dr. Annie McClain and Mr. Johnny McClain will be the Mistress and Master of Ceremonies of the Program. Other program participants will include Mayor Rusty Nix, Ashley Evans, youth from local churches, City Council District 2 representative Lelia Horton Mitchell, and Parks & Recreation Board Chair Pamela Smith. Special recognitions will include a posthumous honoring of longtime former Parks & Recreation Board member Johnny Holsombeck, as well as DRUM the Program, and Girl Scout Troop 205. Hold the Fort 10K, 5K, & 1 Mile
Oak Mountain State Park 200 Terrace Drive, Pelham, AL, United StatesThe Annual Hold the Fort Races are a simultaneously held timed 5k and 10k and also a 1 Mile Warrior Walk that will be taking place at Oak Mountain State Park in Alabama on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 8 am to 10 am. Proceeds this year are dedicated to raising $1.5 million to construct Blanket Fort Hope's restorative therapeutic home for child trafficking survivors and ensure ongoing operations in training, development, and advocacy in the community.
