Amidst blooming flowers and the gentle warmth of the springtime air, immerse yourself in a wonderful environment where you are bound to run into friends and neighbors from the community.

From gourmet delights to traditional favorites, there’s a culinary adventure awaiting every palate.

The festivities also include a thrilling rubber duck race, where a flotilla of colorful rubber ducks races down Buck Creek. Kids and adults alike watch in wonder as the wave of rubber ducks splash over the falls. Come out and participate in a day of springtime revelry, where art, flavors, and laughter blend seamlessly under the clear blue skies.

Shop The Columbiana Farmer’s Market

Springtime brings new growth and fresh blooms, and a farmer’s market is the perfect place to experience the deliciousness of this season. Held on South Main Street, the Columbiana Farmer’s Market boasts farmers from all around. Come and enjoy fresh, locally-grown produce. The market usually starts in late spring once the first crops have started to be harvested in the area, and it’s typically held on Friday evenings. Stroll from vendor to vendor as you browse for the best tomatoes, squash, greens, and other garden harvests. This farmer’s market is a must-do in Shelby County every spring!

Catch Fish At Lake Purdy

Lake Purdy is a 990-acre reservoir offering fishing and boat rentals. Springtime is perfect for fishing, especially for crappie. Talk to the locals or ask around at the bait shop for tips on how to locate the crappie. You’ll find fishermen in boats and along the banks of this beautiful lake as the weather starts to get warmer. In addition to crappie, you can also catch bass, bream, and an occasional catfish. Fishing at Lake Purdy should definitely be on your Springtime Shelby County bucket list.

Walk The Dunnavant Valley Greenway

The Dunnavant Valley Greenway is roughly a two-mile trail that runs alongside the North Fork of Yellow Leaf Creek. The creek holds water year-round, but you have a great chance of seeing flowing water in the Springtime. In addition, the forest surrounding the greenway is home to a diverse mix of birds and flowers. Stroll along the trail listening to the sounds of the water and chirping birds. You might even decide to make a list of all the different birds and flowers that you find along the way. Taking a walk on the Dunnavant Valley Greenway is the perfect way to enjoy a warm spring day in Shelby County.

See a Forest of Faces in Orr Park
