Heardmont Park covers seventy-four acres which includes the Oak Mountain High School Football Stadium with rubberized track, 7 baseball fields, 2 softball fields, 3 soccer fields, playground facilities, walking trails, 4 lighted tennis courts, 4 pickleball courts, and a senior center. Cahaba Valley Creek meanders southwesterly through the park. While bridges are available to cross the creeks, low water crossings exist to let kids and kids at heart get their feet wet.
History
Shelby County and the Shelby County Board of Education purchased the property that is now Heardmont Park from the City of Hoover. The park was funded by a Foundation consisting of the County, the Shelby County Board of Education, area athletic boosters and concerned citizens. Shelby County coordinated construction of all permanent park amenities and structures; athletic fields coordinated and built by local athletic organizations, Oak Mountain Youth Baseball & Softball and American Soccer Club.
