Memorial Day At American Village

The American Village in Montevallo hosts a Memorial Day event that is a great way to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. The event will feature a wreath-laying ceremony as well as a service in the chapel. In addition, you can tour the grounds of the 188-acre campus. See replicas of the Oval Office, the West Wing, and George Washington’s Mount Vernon. A visit to American Village is a perfect way to celebrate Memorial Day and kick off the summer season.

Camping & Grilling At Oak Mountain State Park

Nothing says Memorial Day quite like spending time outdoors and grilling with friends. Oak Mountain State Park is the perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors, and it’s just one of the many great outdoor activities in Shelby County. You can go for the day and grill out with friends at one of the many pavilions and picnic areas throughout the park. If you prefer, you might even choose to camp overnight and make a whole weekend out of the trip.
