City Of Alabaster Christmas Parade
The first event you should be sure to mark on your calendar is the annual Alabaster Christmas parade. This cherished event is happening on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 10 AM. The parade will begin at Long Lewis Ford and makes its way through town until it ends up at Southbrook Village.
One of the most fun parts of this parade is the annual theme! Although it has not been announced yet, the theme is different every year, and the participants who use it most creatively win an award! There are also awards for other events if you’re planning on participating, so be sure to check the City of Alabaster website for all the most up-to-date info!
For those not participating, the parade is one of the best ways to spend some time with loved ones this holiday season. Candy is thrown to spectators throughout the route, who doesn’t love candy?! This year, the City has partnered with local charities and is accepting toy donations to help brighten up the holiday season for those in need. Whether you’re planning on spectating or participating this year, the Alabaster Christmas parade is one of the best holiday events in Shelby County, so be sure to get there early and catch some candy this year!
Christmas In Old Mill Square Park—Columbiana
One of the most cherished events in Shelby County is exploring the winter wonderland that is set up in Old Mill Square Park in Columbiana. Starting December 1st, the town of Columbiana transforms its historic Old Mill Square Park into a walkable Christmas wonderland. Bring your family out day or night to experience the joys of the holiday season in an inviting atmosphere, memorable for all ages.
For an extra special time in the park, visit on Friday night! Snow machines are set up at the fountains and give us Alabamians a chance to experience a White Christmas—without all the ice and road closures! One cool tradition is that the town offers groups or businesses a chance to purchase Christmas trees that will remain in the park throughout the holiday event. These trees are a great way to liven up the event with real, beautifully decorated Christmas trees that will bring a smile to the faces of all who see them!
The event runs until January 5, 2024, so make sure you get out and see this wonderful holiday display while it is around!
Pelham Skate School Christmas Ice Show
This holiday season, you do not want to miss out on the Christmas Ice Show put on by the Pelham Skate School! This annual event dazzles viewers with spectacular displays of ice skating routines, all with a holiday theme, of course!
Featuring skaters from the Pelham Skate School, the Birmingham Figure Skating Club, and Pelham Hockey, bring the family out and be blown away by how much local talent Shelby has when it comes to figure skating and dance! Children from the Littlest Snowplow Sams to high-level elite skaters may participate, so it truly is fun for all ages and skill levels.
The Pelham Skate School Christmas Ice Show is happening on December 17, 2023, so mark your calendars! If you would like to participate or would like more information, please email Susie Gray, Director of Skating, at sgray@pelhamalabama.gov.
City Of Montevallo Christmas Tree Lighting
One of the most magical events of the holiday season is finally turning on all of the lights and decorations once you’ve finally finished putting them up. Think Clark Griswold without all of the mishaps—hopefully. What better way is there to get into the holiday spirit than watching a 20-foot Christmas tree light up with thousands of dazzling lights?
This annual event always sees a great turnout and offers you and your family a night in a safe, welcoming atmosphere where you can make memories that last a lifetime. This tradition has been going on for years now, and the parade that follows is sure to get anyone into the holiday spirit.
Be on the lookout for date and time announcements and mark your calendar. You won’t want to miss this cherished Shelby County event!
