Kick up your boots and take a journey by train into the Wild West! Watch the onboard and outdoor Western theatre reenactment story about a runaway, a gang of ruffians, a father’s pursuit and see if law and order can be reestablished onboard the train! The train ride and outdoor theater performances down the tracks last approximately 75 minutes. Food vendors, lawn games and photo opportunities will be available on the Museum grounds, as well. To add to the fun, the Shelby & Southern Narrow Gauge Steam Railroad will be fired up and ready to take your family on a ride behind an authentic steam locomotive! The Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum is located just off I-65 in Calera, Alabama between Birmingham and Montgomery.

Come enjoy a summer series of live-broadcast performances, consisting of six shows, with intermissions, featuring Sean Dietrich and friends—both respected and ill-famed. Each show will feature different guests and “fresh” stories from Sean. Performances will be recorded in the SONG Theater for future broadcast, featuring Sean and the gang, delivering a mix of humor, storytelling, and eclectic musical performances that are sure to cause audiences to stand up in their seats and beg to be let out of the theater. The audience will be part of the live recording. Be prepared to have fun, sing along, laugh, and above all, spend the summer among friends.

Tinglewood Festival

Montevallo is often recognized for the carvings of Tim Tingle in Orr Park. Each year thousands of visitors come to the park to enjoy these tree carvings. Over 50 carvings line the walking path along scenic Shoal Creek. It is a perfect venue to host a festival celebrating wood carving and other wood working crafts. This is the genesis for the Tinglewood Festival. The Tinglewood Festival is a free (no admission charge) one day event held in Orr Park annually in September. This Festival is a signature event for the City of Montevallo.

BUMP Bike-A-Thon for the Alzheimer’s Association

Join Birmingham Urban Mountain Pedalers this fall at stunning Oak Mountain State Park for their first ever Bike-A-Thon benefitting the Alzheimer's Association: The Longest Day. Don't miss a day of fun, biking, grilled cheese sandwiches, and support for an amazing cause! The event will take place Oct 7th 2023, from 8am to 5pm at Oak Mountain State Park. Participants will complete a 17.6 mile loop around the Red Trail at Oak Mountain as many times as they can starting and ending at the Cedar Pavilion.
