From noon to 6 PM on Saturday, April 27, join us on Island Street at the Orr Park Pecan Grove (940 Island Street) to grab lunch or an early dinner from one of our featured food trucks--to be announced! This fest will be fun for the whole family. Visit Lovelight Farm on Sunday, April 28 for a farm tour, plant sale and live music from Dead Wood, a local Grateful Dead Tribute Band. Entry is $5 per person and $10 for families. Proceeds will go towards the purchase of a larger propagation greenhouse for our educational programming and for the expansion of the farms production. Lovelight Farm is a biodynamic and organic farm that focuses on soil health and sustainability of the land. They are a Certified Naturally Grown farm located in Wilsonville, Alabama.
Shelby County Soil and Water Conservation District presents Farmers' Trade and Market Day: Homemade, Handmade, Homegrown & Farm Raised Vendors and Food Trucks will be at the Jones Agricenter Building in Columbiana - 56 Kelley Lane (next door to the Exhibition Center). Food trucks will have Tamales, Street Corn, Pork Skins, Cake, Bread Pudding, Cheesecake, Apple Butter, and much more! The Community Educational Garden has been planted and will host educational sessions on gardening. Enjoy the fun!
All are invited to a community BBQ at the Vulcan Materials Company quarry in Calera. The event is Friday, May 10. Gates are open to the public from 2-5:30pm to join us for free food, fun and a quarry visit. The quarry is located at 1614 County Road 84 in Calera.
