Helena United Festival
According to Chairperson of the Helena Diversity and Inclusion Board Dominga Gardner, the Helena United Festival will feature cooking demonstrations, a stick dancing performance and a martial arts demonstration, with a pending agreement with a bag pipe group. “We are using this event to bring all the cultures together, all different walks of life together, just to be able to learn something new from another culture,” Gardner said. “And also to embrace those that are different from us.” Read more at: https://www.shelbycountyreporter.com/2024/03/14/helena-diversity-board-to-host-helena-united-festival/
3rd Annual Spring Fling Family Food Truck Fest
Montevallo AL, United StatesMontevallo Main Street, Impact Montevallo, and DRUM the Program invite you to experience our 3rd Annual Spring Fling Family Food Truck Fest! From noon to 6 PM on Saturday, April 27, join us on Island Street at the Orr Park Pecan Grove (940 Island Street) to grab lunch or an early dinner from one of our featured food trucks--to be announced! This fest will be fun for the whole family. Activities include: • Drum classes led by DRUM the Program's Abou Sylla (www.syllamusic.com) from 1-1:30 PM and 3-3:30 PM • Inflatable Bounce House • Obstacle Course • Face Painting • Music • Main Street Coloring Sheets • And more! This event is free admission. It is also "rain or shine." Swinging Fore Achievement
Ballantrae Golf Club 1300 Ballantrae Club Drive Pelham, AL, United StatesThe 10th Annual Swinging Fore Achievement Golf Tournament will be held on May 16th at Ballantrae Golf Club. Lunch will be provided beginning at 11:30am with the Shotgun Start at 1:00 pm. The entry fee for individual players is $150 or play as a team for $600. There will be prizes for the top 3 teams of the tournament. The entry fee includes green fee & golf cart, pre-round practice balls, lunch, Ballantrae Course Yardage Book and a goodie bag. Corporate sponsorships are available! This event benefits The Arc of Shelby County, which serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Shelby and Chilton Counties.

The Provinicial Pub will have Kingfish playing at 4pm and other local music legends joining to finish off the night! They will have 50/50 tickets and other raffle items too! Meet radio legend hall of fame Dollar Bill Lawson for a meet and greet and photos. Shrimp boil plates will be for sale by The Local Oyster House, and BBQ plates by Tin Top BBQ 2! There will be a $10 dollar cover at the door all going to the charities. This will benefit the Clint Mooney foundation and Bikes 4 Kids non profits! This one is going to be a big one and lots of fun!

2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration
The City of Montevallo’s Parks & Recreation Board will host their 2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration from 10 AM – 1 PM at George Dailey Park on Wednesday, June 19. This free-admission event will feature a program, refreshments, children’s activities, and community organizations. Juneteenth became a federal holiday in June 2021. It is a national celebration of freedom: the anniversary of June 19, 1865, the day enslaved people in Texas learned they had been set free for two years. The event will kick off at 10:00 AM. Retired educators Dr. Annie McClain and Mr. Johnny McClain will be the Mistress and Master of Ceremonies of the Program. Other program participants will include Mayor Rusty Nix, Ashley Evans, youth from local churches, City Council District 2 representative Lelia Horton Mitchell, and Parks & Recreation Board Chair Pamela Smith. Special recognitions will include a posthumous honoring of longtime former Parks & Recreation Board member Johnny Holsombeck, as well as DRUM the Program, and Girl Scout Troop 205.
