Join us this Memorial Day for the Because of the Brave 5K, a moving tribute honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives for our freedom. This untimed 5K run/walk invites participants of all ages to carry a 2'x3' American flag throughout the course, which winds through the beautiful grounds of American Village.
The public is invited to attend this moving ceremony to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in military service to a grateful nation. The ceremony will include a flyover; patriotic music by Homeland; Honor Guard; LTG A. C. Roper, US Army retired, as speaker; ceremonial service wreaths laying by ALNC Gold Star family members; a rifle salute; TAPS; a cannon salute; and more. Prestley Skelton, High Student Junior and State Winner in the American Legion Oratorical Contest, will serve as emcee.
