When you get out and discover the town of Columbiana, you’ll be blown away by the charming southern town that is nestled right between Lay Lake, Highway 280, and the I-65 corridor. We’ve put together an itinerary for an ideal day in Columbiana featuring things to do, sights to see, and places to eat, so join us on a trip to Columbiana!

Grab a Coffee at Leaders’ Corner

Leaders’Corner is a small-town coffee shop that is a favorite local spot to grab a coffee or a bite to eat with friends in a cozy cafe setting. The building that the folks at Leaders’ Corner occupy was constructed before the Civil War, and the name pays homage both to the men and women who helped create a building that has truly stood the test of time, and to the city of Columbiana’s motto, “embracing the future, preserving the past.”

Leaders’ Corner has all the favorite coffee shop options such as drips, americanos, and espressos, but also specialty drinks like lattes and fraps! You can also bring your appetite. The menu at Leaders’ Corner is jam-packed with expertly curated breakfast options like their Green Haven avocado toast, bacon, egg, and cheese croissant, and many more fantastic breakfast options.

Take a Walk at Beeswax Creek Park

Located off Highway 145, Beeswax Creek Park is the perfect place to spend a day taking in nature, walking the miles of trails, playing sports, or catching up with friends and family at any of the numerous pavilions on site. Beeswax Creek Park is bordered by Lay Lake to its east, and as its name suggests, by Beeswax Creek to the north! The park features well-maintained trails and paths for a nice walk beside the beautiful lake and surrounding park, and other amenities such as playgrounds, a basketball court, and plenty of restrooms mean that you can head to the park knowing that you’ll have everything you need to have a safe enjoyable day.

For the fishermen out there, Beeswax Creek Park has three fishing docks and another wheelchair-accessible pier. Anglers regularly catch trophy bass and bream on the piers, so bring the camera to snag a picture of your catch! If you want to get out on the water but fishing’s not your thing, the Park has plenty of places to launch canoes or kayaks so that you can hit the water.

When you get off the water, head over to one of the many pavilions, relax, and think about all the fun you’ve had exploring the walking trails, hitting the water, and making memories with friends and family as you enjoy the beautiful natural wonders of Shelby County. No matter how you decide to spend your time at Beeswax Park, you’re sure to have a great time. Be sure to check it out when you make it over to Columbiana!
