The Chelsea Public Library opened its doors on February 6, 2001 as a branch of the Harrison Regional Library. We were located in the upstairs meeting room of the 1st National Bank of Shelby County for 4 years. In August of 2004 we moved to our current location on the first floor of Chelsea City Hall.

The library currently has a collection of over 13,785 materials. Our collection includes books for children, young adults and adults, magazines, Audio books on CD and Playaway both fiction and nonfiction, music CDs and DVDs. Internet is available on our public access computers and Wi-Fi. We offer a weekly Tot Spot reading time for toddlers and participate in the summer reading program for older children. We will begin a building project in 2009 and will then add more programming.
